Alignment-Based Vinyasa

A fun, flowy class intended to help you to stretch, strengthen and stabilize your body. The practice will incorporate aspects of a Vinyasa-inspired flow, focusing on building strength for the shoulders and low back, with a juicy touch of core work for integration to progress into fun variations of different yoga poses. Filled with plenty of options for students of all levels, this class is ideal for anyone who enjoys a creative flow in addition to self maintenance and taking care of the areas of the body that experience a lot of use in yoga, physical activity and good ol’ life!

Basics

This level 1 class develops the practice of linking movements of the body with the flow of the breath, while emphasizing optimal alignment within fundamental postures. Geared toward beginners with some experience.

Community

This class is an opportunity to practice yoga in a supportive setting with people of all ages. Whether you are an experienced practitioner, new to yoga or have limited mobility this class can offer you a joyful experience, enhance your yoga practice and give you a safe entry into the world of yoga. The community class is appropriate for anyone with an interest in or love for yoga. Suggested donation is $7, but you are welcome to use your class card or pay less as needed.

Chair Yoga at the Starr Library

There are many ways of doing yoga poses. This practice is gentle and for people who wish to relieve stress, be revitalized and heal. The practice is done seated in a chair or by using the chair for support and balance. Suitable for people of any age and will benefit many health conditions. $10/class, held at the Starr Library in Rhinebeck, (845) 876-4030.

Deep Relaxation with Restorative Yoga

Explore what happens when you release the tension your body and mind habitually hold. Restorative yoga uses comfortable props that allow the body to open, rest and fully relax. Class will include supported twists, heart openers, gentle forward folds and beck bends. giving you all the benefits of deep, passive stretching. Class will end with a generous rest in savasana.

Early Rising Yoga

An all-levels gentle yoga and meditation class for YOU: the early riser who wants an opportunity to practice before the day begins. Good for all levels, the class will combine asana (physical poses), pranayama (breathing practices), dharana (concentration) and dhyana (contemplation and meditation). Come salute the sun as it’s rising!

Flow and Restore

Rejuvenate with a cleansing sequence of slow-flow vinyasa, followed by gentle poses where the body is comfortably supported by props (blocks, blankets, bolsters) and then held in postures that encourage opening and release.

Gentle

A very simple and soothing Hatha yoga class suitable for all ages and abilities. Excellent for pre-natal, post-natal, injury recovery and those who may find it difficult to do strenuous exercise, or who prefer to do a modest but effective level of yoga training.

Hot Yoga

This challenging and flowing form of yoga heals, detoxifies and electrifies body and mind at their deepest levels, in the style of Baron Baptiste. We practice in a 90-degree room; dress as if you were going for a run on a hot summer day. Towel rental available, or bring your own. Suitable for students of various levels, though not recommended for very beginners.

Jivamukti Open

This Jivamukti Yoga class is vinyasa-based with emphasis on breathing, alignment and moving with grace and awareness. A short discussion of yogic philosophy, meditation and singing are included in each class. It will be challenging, yet safe for all levels.

Meditation Practice

Meditation is a practice of concentrated focus in order to increase awareness of the present moment, reduce stress, promote relaxation, and enhance personal and spiritual growth. Join us each week for an exploration of different meditation techniques including sound, object, visualization, the breath, movement, or attention itself. Free.

Mixed Levels

This level 1-2 class builds on the Basics classes, and incorporates vinyasa flow as well as opportunities to hold poses for longer periods. Teachers will give modifications for different levels; however, knowledge of basic poses is required. Prior completion of our Intro to Yoga Series is strongly recommended for those who are new to yoga.

Not Just Yoga Yoga

Each class will explore a unique mix: yoga philosophy, science, mantra, asana, pranayama, partnering, props, poetry, and meditation.

-seeking guidance and support for body, mind and heart
-needing a self-compassion recharge

Power Lunch

This 45-minute class is designed for the student who likes to move and is looking to establish or maintain a consistent asana practice. This is an active Vinyasa style class designed each month around the studio’s focus of the month. Over the course of the month, the series of poses is consistent to allow the students to learn and make progress with peak or challenging poses. The teacher will be practicing along side you, calling out the poses but there is limited alignment instruction and no adjustments. You are welcome to modify as much as you need. This is an opportunity for you to develop your own practice along side other students. Come throw down your mat and flow with us! Special Rate: $10

Restorative Yoga

This is a deeply relaxing practice that blends supportive postures, guided relaxation, yogic breathing, and an extended Savasana (final resting pose). The body is comfortably supported by props (blankets, bolsters, blocks, sandbags), and then held gently in positions that encourage opening and releasing. An incredible system that heals, “restoratives” activate the relaxation response, balance the nervous system, lift immune function, and optimize energy flow to the organs. This class will help recharge your energy reserves and reduce the effect of stress on the body and mind. Open to students at all levels.

Slow Flow & Restore

A combination of gentle moving and alignment-driven asana coupled with concentration/meditative stillness and deep relaxation, this class complements a more vigorous physical practice and is perfect, too, for those who generally prefer more gentle and leisurely, yet focused, practice. Great for any level yogi; geared toward whole body wellness.

Strong Vinyasa

Strong Vinyasa is a challenging class where one posture flows into the next, initiated by the breath. Instructions on alignment will be given along with variations of postures. Suggested for intermediate and/or advanced students.

Yin Yoga

uses gentle, long held postures practiced with an attitude of compassionate acceptance, awakening the Yin aspects of ourselves.
Practicing in this way we unwind, and still physical and mental chatter while also stretching and stimulating connective tissue. By promoting the flow of energy through the channels of our deep Yin core we bring health, rejuvenation and balance to our bodies.

Zen Mind Meditation

Coming back to our breath and to each moment is the essence of all meditation practice. Sitting together in community and establishing a regular practice can lead to improved focus, clarity, and personal equanimity. Each session will include gentle instruction, spiritual readings, sitting in silence, walking meditation, mindfulness practice and Q&A. Beginners and experienced practitioners welcome. Meets the second and third Friday of every month.
