About the Instructor

julie coltonJulie Colton is a healer who practices yoga to feel connected with the world around her. She finds that being a musician and Reiki Master allows her to help others on an energetic level when teaching yoga; this is aligned with her main intention which is to promote better health in mind, body and spirit. Having a background in cellular biology and mathematics, she firmly believes in the ‘science’ of yoga that provides therapy for the people who practice it.

Julie has studied under Michael Stein of Ashtanga of New Paltz whose main focus was on anatomy and alignment, and Dana Trixie Flynn of Laughing Lotus NYC who brought creativity and play into the sequencing of asanas. Julie is grateful to teach at Satya because she can continue on her spiritual and humanistic path by being of service and connecting warmly with the people who go there.

Julie is currently a graduate student at SUNY New Paltz and is studying to receive her masters in humanistic and multicultural education. She received her 200-hour certification at Ashtanga of New Paltz and her 500-hour certification at Laughing Lotus NYC. In her spare time she studies astrology and composes music.
